The Point Roberts Registered Voters Association is hoping for an 18-hole shotgun start for their upcoming charity golf tournament and is looking for more golfers to make it happen.
The Saturday, September 19 event at the Point Roberts Golf and Country Club will feature games raffles, prizes and of course golf: a foursome scramble with a shotgun start beginning at 9 a.m. The event will raise funds for the Cross Border Coalition to Stop the Radio Towers.
Voters association president Joel Lantz said 39 golfers have already signed up for what promises to be a fun day, with four additional tentative foursomes. The tournament fee is $360 for a foursome or $90 for a single golfer and includes green fees, carts, refreshments and a bag of goodies for each golfer.
“The Point Roberts community, businesses and individuals have really stepped up to the plate with hole sponsorships, prizes and donations,” Lantz said. Fifteen of the 18 holes have sponsors, and the Cottages at Seabright Farm has stepped in as the main event sponsor.
Lantz said the event is also looking for more volunteers to make the day run smoothly. “It’s really simple stuff since it’s a fun-oriented charity tournament,” Lantz said. Lunch will be provided for volunteers.
