Circle of Care group looks for financial help

Following a late September retreat, Circle of Care has set some goals, brought on new board members and begun fundraising.

The organization is aiming to help a dozen or more community members become trained as certified home care aides, who can then be matched with older residents who need help staying in their homes.

A fundraising goal of $50,000 will help fund scholarships for training, help older residents pay for services if they can’t afford them and possibly purchase equipment. “We’ve already had two situations where there wasn’t the right or enough equipment that could be brought to Point Roberts,” said Annelle Norman, one of the founders of the group.

A priority for the organization will be to assemble a roster of volunteers to help older residents with tasks that don’t require specific training, such as walking the dog, running errands or giving a ride to the senior center for lunch.
