Walkie Walkers celebrate anniversary

The “Downtown Wackie Walkers” were out in force to celebrate 13 years on the road.

Almost 50 walkers met on October 29 at the home of Henry and Esther Rosenthal, two of the original walkers, for their anniversary walk. According to founder Joe Ferguson, in their 13 years the Walkers have met 1,386 times and walked 92,059 miles. In 2009, the group started walking twice a year with the students at the Point Roberts Primary School.

The Wackie Walkers meet at Lighthouse Marine Park every Tuesday and at variable locations on Thursdays. “Love to see you all there!” Ferguson said.
