Point Roberts Chamber of Commerce directors met at the community center on January 26 with a list of items to start working on early in 2016.
Top of the list was the chamber sign near the border, in front of Nielson’s Electric, which is in disrepair and hasn’t been updated in years. The board will look at ways to freshen it up as well as providing space for upcoming events.
Next up, the chamber board wants to develop a new design for its website, pointrobertschamberofcommerce.com, which hasn’t been updated since it was designed in 2010 due to glitches in getting access from the designer.
Ron Hughes, who was in attendance at the meeting, expressed interest in developing a new website and showed examples of a possible design. The directors agreed to meet with Hughes to determine what would be involved.
Recently appointed director Dee Gough suggested the chamber could hold a contest for a new logo, thereby opening it up to the community for design ideas. The directors decided to hold off until they decided on an overall marketing plan for the chamber.
Gough also suggested a spring social for businesses and community members. A Bingo theme received positive comments and a decision will be made next month.
The chamber’s next meeting will be held at the community center on Thursday, February 23.
