Caffe Capanna to close

Caffe Capanna

Dear Point Roberts,

Ron and Linda are saddened to announce that the new owner of Caffe Capanna has advised us that they wish to utilize the property in a new direction, and have directed us to close operations of the Caffe before March 1.

Please come in and have a coffee with us, bring your friends and let’s share some of the memories we have all made together over these past two years. You remember us, the little yellow coffee shack at 1345 Gulf Road.
Our heartfelt thanks are truly difficult to entirely express here. We are so fortunate to have met so many wonderful international visitors, developed life-long friendships, and especially appreciate the support of our local Point Roberts customers who helped us keep the doors open even in the slowest times of the year.

Point Roberts is a genuine treasure, and that is reflected in the people who live here and support local business. We are grateful for the opportunity that has been afforded us in this venture and we are looking forward to the next adventure in our lives.

Please stop by the Caffe when you can. We would love to thank you in person for your support and friendship. Breakfast, lunch, daily soups and baking selection will continue through to the end of the month.
And please come visit Whale Bay Village (our little corner of the Point), and continue to support our amazing neighbors, Blue Heron Gallery, Brewster’s, Pedal Pushers Bike Rentals, The Reef and Auntie Pam’s Country Store. Every one of these businesses has supported us and we hope you will visit them often and continue to share the love.

Warmest regards,
Linda and Ron Hughes

  2. Noooo, that was the jewel of PR! Good coffee, good company, soups that worm your soul…. Now, I bet it will be a new overpriced fancy restaurant, open two days per week! All the best to the previous owners, we ll miss you!

  3. As an overseas visitor to your excellent coffee shop I am very sorry to hear that you are leaving. I have stayed with my daughter and her husband at Point Roberts for the past 2 years and it was always a pleasure to drop in for coffee and sometimes to access the internet. We enjoyed the relaxed and friendly service and will certainly miss you.
We wish you the very best of luck and hope you have success in the future.

  5. We’ll miss you Linda and Ron! And we’ll miss the friendly and warm atomosphere of our own little Point Roberts internet Cafe with the best coffee on the point. Not to mention the best scones. Oh, and the hours. So grateful for the hours you kept for those of us who wake early wanting an early morning latte which was always delivered with an early morning smile. Tom and I wish you all the best in the next stage of your lives. You both have a lot to offer.

  6. Oh now! But you were our treat after a long exercise around the Point! What will motivate us now? And our daughter always enjoyed taking her friends there while we stayed at our cottage. Sad to see you go 🙁 Good luck.

  9. Terrible news!! You were our camping morning awesome breakfast!!! When I tell my sister in the Caymans that we’re going to Point Roberts to go camping, she says “oooh that cute little yellow house on the corner? Love it there!” That’s what Point Roberts meant to her, the simple escape, a coffee, an ocean view… We are so sad to see you go. We will try to make it out before the end of February. Good luck to you in the future…

  10. Well, that just sucks. Have tried to be supportive over the years, especially to a business that decided to be open year round at Point Bob. So sorry Linda and Ron and you absolutely do have THE best scones, anywhere. Thank you for making this little piece of heaven more enjoyable for the years that you did. South Beach Bev & Brenda

  11. That is sad and disappointing for yourselves and the community as well! Although I do not live on the Point, I have met with many insurance clients at Caffe Capanna, or worked from there between appointments. That was a gem. Thank you for the hard work you put into it!
