Friends
of the Library
By

The Friends
held seven events in 2001 that covered a variety of interests.
We were able to offer workshops on gardening, (featuring Connie
George, Bunny Meikle, and Sian Lindeman), Christmas crafts (taught
by Sally Roberts), and heritage scrapbooks (brought to us by Bev
Canfield), to musical events like the Brass Belles (five Canadian
women musicians playing brass instruments), and the ballroom dancing
contest, with a live dance band (won by Jan & Bill Montgomery
and Madeleine Anderson and Holger Michelsen), to a special interest
demonstration like panning for gold (featuring Yukon Dan and an
opportunity for the audience to try their skill at panning).
All were well attended and enjoyed, but the most popular continues
to be our annual international joke telling contest (with the
first place winner being Point Roberts resident Knick Pyles).
The FOL looks forward to 2002 which will begin with a workshop
on Beading for Beginners, February 23, and a Tall Tales Contest
on March 23..
