2001 IN REVIEW
Point Roberts Taxpayers Association

By Kelley Lyne

Be heard!
The taxpayer’s association is your opportunity as a Point Roberts property owner to voice your concerns on topics of interest such as waste water disposal (sewage), zoning regulations, the future development of Point Roberts and environmental issues, to name a few.

The association continues to be a visible and respected voice in the community with its representation on various boards.

Through our participation on the economic development committee we have the opportunity to hear developers’ concerns and they have the opportunity to hear the community’s concerns as well. With representation on the character plan committee, being aware of developmental proposals can only enhance the livability of our community.

We were also an important participant in the development and implementation of the new Point Roberts Sub-area Plan which was recently adopted by the Whatcom County Council. The taxpayer’s association has also been continuing attendance at the local parks board, water district and fire district monthly meetings.

If you own property in Point Roberts, you owe it to yourself to be actively informed on issues pertaining to your investment. For a (very) nominal fee, being a member of the Point Roberts Taxpayer’s Association can accomplish that.

As always we appreciate your comments and may be reached at P.O. Box 158, Point Roberts, WA 98281. Come to our meetings on the first Wednesday of each month – except January – at 7:30 p.m. at the community center. Hope to see you there!.
