Point
Roberts Food Bank
By
Ernie Loreen
Many thanks
to all those people and organizations which have helped the people
in our community who have faced difficult times. This past year
we have assisted 29 families with about 75 members living in Point
Roberts. It is the goal of the food bank to help anyone in the
community who feels they need foodstuffs. Those of us who have
received such help in past years know that this can be a real
heartwarming experience.
Among the groups which support the food bank are: International
Marketplace, Point Roberts Auto Freight, Thrifty Foods, Gais
Baking Company, Sterling Savings Bank, The Letter Carrier, TSB
Shipping, Trinity Community Lutheran Church, Texaco and MP/Stateside.
Food donations have been collected and packaged by the scouts
and campfire groups, and the Point Roberts fire department. Delta
businesses and individuals also contribute to sustaining the food
bank. Provisions are also provided by Northwest Harvest, Salvation
Army and the U.S. federal government through the Bellingham food
bank. To all who have helped provide funds and support for these
services, we express our sincere thank you!
Food commodities are available each Wednesday from 11 a.m. to
1 p.m. at the community center on Gulf Road. No registration is
necessary. In an emergency or for information, call Henry at 945-1711
or Ernie at 945-5175.
Special thanks to faithful workers, Ed Aydon, Henry Rosenthal,
John Miller, Bill Ladner, and Erica Loreen. Again, thanks for
your wonderful support and cooperation. May the joy and the wonder
of this season brighten your life and bring each one peace. (There
will not be a food bank Wednesday, December 26.).
