The
road less gravelled
Point Roberts residents tired of worn out pavement or dusty gravel
roads wont get a new surface to drive on this year, but
it looks good for next year when chipsealing crews will be up
resurfacing most of the 34 miles of county road on the Point.
Were looking at opportunities to do that to save the
taxpayers money, Dick Prieve of public works said. The four
miles of public dirt roads on the Point that were left unfinished
by developers are graded and oiled every year by county crews.
If the road is current to county standards and we can just
grade it and apply a chipseal, well do it, Prieve
said. We may not be able to do it if major modifications
of the road are needed.
