D.C.
Point Roberts
teens Celeste Fraser and Neal Teutsch have been selected to participate
in the National Student Leadership Conference, Washington D.C.
program for top-ranking high school students to learn the skills
that make a good leader. The two will be among 2,000 students
from across the country who attend ten days of workshops and lectures
featuring such well known figures as former secretary of state
Madeleine Albright, former attorney general Janet Reno, president
of the World Bank James Wolfsensohn and several U.S. Supreme court
justices.
The focus of the program Fraser and Teutsch will attend is law
and advocacy, and students will participate in a mock trial during
which they will play the roles of attorneys. The goal is to teach
them to think on their feet, critically analyze problems and solve
them creatively. They leave with a feeling of confidence
in their ability to handle the challenges that lie ahead,
said director of academics Paul Lisnek.
Following the D.C. conference, Teutsch will extend his east coast
stay with a three-day international youth forum at the United
Nations..
