Cummings honored

Blaine elementary school principal Deb Cummings has been named Distinguished Principal by the Elementary School Principals Association of Washington. School district superintendent Gordon Dolman made the announcement at the school board’s regular meeting May 20.

Cummings was one of 18 Washington state principals to be honored by the association. Candidates are selected on their contributions to professional growth, educational excellence, community relations and humanitarian activities.

Dolman pointed out that it was highly unusual for any principal with less than 10 years experience to be nominated. Cummings has been principal for six years..
