The Washington Apple Commission has launched their search for their official “spokesgranny” for 2002. The commission will choose an active health grandmother who lives life to the fullest to be the official Granny Smith, appearing on radio and TV to promote Washington apples.

Nominations, which need to be in by April 1, must include a photo and a 100-word essay about why a granny is the greatest. Five finalists will be chosen and win $250 and a trip to the Washington State Apple festival in May, where Granny Smith 2002 will be selected.
