OBITUARIES
Mildred Flaherty
November 13, 1921 August 4, 2002
Mildred Flaherty died peacefully Sunday morning, August 4, 2002,
at her home in Point Roberts. She was enjoying a bowl of raspberries
and was preparing to go to church.
Milly was born November 13, 1921 in Chilliwack, B.C. She lived
in Bellingham, Orcas Island, and in Point Roberts for the past
five years. She was active in the Point Roberts senior center
and Trinity Lutheran Church.
She will be forever remembered by her siblings; Doris Johnson
of Kennewick, WA, Geraldine Holmgren of Astoria, OR, and Wallace
Bishop of Bellingham, WA; her children, Rita Zimbelman of Point
Roberts, WA, Patricia McGlinn of Camas, WA and Gerald Flaherty
of Des Moines, WA; her 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Milly was known for her love of painting, gardening and photography.
She touched the hearts and lives of everyone she came in contact
with. She will be greatly missed.
There will be a graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetery on Orcas
Island November 9, 2002 at 1 p.m. Remembrances may be sent to
Trinity Community Lutheran Church, Point Roberts..

JAMES, of Vancouver, BC passed away peacefully at the UBC
hospital, Vancouver, April 23, 2002 in his 83rd year. James was
born in Vancouver, BC in December, 1919.
Jim served in the Canadian Army and was in the D-Day landing.
While overseas, he met and married his wife, Vera, who was serving
as a W.A.A.F. in the Royal Air force.
It was a year before Vera managed to get on a boat to join her
husband with her one and a half year old son, John. By this time,
Jim had resumed his studies at UBC and graduated in 1949 in Civil
Engineering and was later was certified in Washington. He also
was certified for B.C. land surveying.
The Davidsons have been long time visitors to Point Roberts with
their five children. They started out renting each year, until
1967 when they bought property with a small building on it.
Jim was active in the creation of Maple Beach Park. He surveyed
the park, with others helping. Jim made a nice sign that says
Maple Beach Park, with a rainbow on it.
Many summer and winters have been enjoyed in Point Roberts since
the 50s.
Jim is remembered by his loving family and many friends.
