Rose Tutte
March 13, 1912 - June 10, 2003.
Rose Tutte, long time summer resident of Maple
Beach passed away June 10, 2003. Rose (with her son Victor ) was
the owner of Tutte’s Engraving and the suppliers and caretakers
of the original trophies for the Boundary Bay Recreational Club
(BBRC) Swimming Regatta, with the oldest trophy dating back to
1928. She will be fondly remembered by all her friends at Maple
Beach, young and old. Rose was a strong supporter of the Maple
Beach Property Owners Association Park and donated money toward
the electrical panel at the park and donated a park bench in memory
of her late husband Percy.
When the regatta was restarted in 1985, Rose was contacted about
new trophies. It turned out, she had stored all the original trophies
at her shop for free for the BBRC. Some of the old trophies are
on display at the new Whalen restaurant and all will be on display
at the BBRC regatta at the end of August at Maple Beach. Rose,
we salute you and all that you accomplished in your life time.
We are all better people having known you. Heaven has a special
place for someone like you.
