Speedy fire district meeting skirts money issues. Community members were at the last fire district #5 meeting with questions about the districtÕs finances and policies, but fire commission chair Jesse Lofquist and acting commissioner Davea Fisher werenÕt much in the mood to talk about it.
Community van to start up in February. Beginning Monday, February 17, Point Roberts residents will have a new way of getting around the Point or down to Blaine or Bellingham. That's the day that service begins for the Point's own Whatcom Transportation Authority (WTA) Community Use Van.

New cop in town. In the ongoing rotation of deputies in and out of Point Roberts, Jeff Turner is the newest representative of the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office.

New INS boss Linda Henderson is the new port director for Point Roberts.

Teacher's head south to protest cuts

Help for small businesses on the way - In an effort to bring the services of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to smaller communities in the state, Jeff Davis, of the SBDC, is coming to Point Roberts. to speak at the February Chamber of Commerce Luncheon

2002 In Review
Trinity Lutheran Church. ÒReaching out in GodÕs loveÓ became our vision statement early last year and highlights of that vision include intern Pastor Susan Hookham (her year ended in July) who offered worship leadership and fellowship to our congregation and to the community.

Point Roberts Voters. Since the annual general meeting in March several ideas for improving conditions at Point Roberts have been developed. This is a result of a broad cross section of new directors.

Point Roberts Primary. Four more seasons of fun and learning with our children, parents and community members in Point Roberts!

Point Roberts Library. It's better than ever at your library! Circulation is up over last year, which was up over the year before. Children attend seasonal craft and puppet shows, enjoy pajama story time in the winter and reading programs for kids and teens in the summer.

Point Roberts historian to speak - Richard E. Clark, the author of ÒPoint Roberts, U.S.A.Ó will give a talk about the history of the Point at 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, at the community center.

Pier levy to receive public hearing - Whatcom County Council has voted unanimously to set a public hearing to discuss an election date for the proposed Point Roberts Special Recreation Area, a pier at the end of Gulf Road.
