OBITUARIES

Reginald William Campin
July 17, 1910 - February 13, 2003
Reginald William Campin, 92, returned to his Lord on Thursday, February 13, 2003 at Stafholt Good Samaritan Center in Blaine, Washington.

Campin was born July 17, 1910 to William R. Campin and Violet Overholt Campin in Ross, North Dakota. He was awarded a Bachelor of Science at Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois, where he also studied divinity. He later earned his Master of Education degree at the University of Montana.

Campin married his beloved wife, Vivian Ballantyne, December 21, 1936. They moved to Blaine in 1942, where he enjoyed a rewarding career as a teacher and principal at Blaine high school. He saw the school grow from 25 graduates in 1946 to 85 in 1965, helped women’s athletics get equal time in the gym, and hauled his geometry class out to build sidewalks that didn’t puddle. After his retirement in 1972, he saw one of his dreams realized in a new science center for the school, which was named after him in 1976.

He was an active member of the Blaine community and a member of the Congregational Church (United Church of Christ) since 1943.

Campin is survived by Vivian, his wife of 66 years; son, William J. Campin and his wife Nancy, of Custer, Washington; daughter, Evelyn Kaye Caley and her husband Rush, of Port Orchard, Washington; five grandchildren; three great-granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services was held Saturday, February 22, at 2 p.m. at the Blaine Performing Arts Center, 1055 H Street. Memorials may be made to the Blaine Marine Park Education Foundation in care of Judy Dunster, 948 Peace Portal Drive, Blaine, Washington 98230. Please share your condolences with the family in their online guest book at: www.greenacresmoles.com.
