File
of Life
The latest
project of the Point Roberts seniors wellness committee is the
File of Life, designed to help get the right care to you fast
in case of an emergency.
“You fill
in the information and it’s there when it’s needed,” said committee
member Joe Ferguson at the December 4 parks board meeting, handing
out the red magnetized sleeves to anyone who would take one.
The File
of Life is a program of the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office sponsored
by the Trillium Safe Community Foundation. In a red plastic file
that can be stuck to the refrigerator is a medical information
sheet for everyone in the household, and a window decal alerts
emergency crews to look for the file. With the file in hand, first
responders know of medical conditions, allergies, emergency contacts
and insurance information. “It’s there if a neighbor finds you
unresponsive or if a babysitter needs to know who to call,” Ferguson
said.
To get your
own file of life call Ferguson at 945-2753 or drop by the Gulf
Road community center for the Wednesday senior center lunch.
