County approves Gulf Road motel

The county has approved a motel project at the corner of Gulf Road and Marine Drive.

In a brief May 12 decision county hearing examiner Michael Bobbink approved the staff recommendation to permit the project, subject to conditions.

Developer Jason McDougall plans to develop the 1.67 acre site with six 864-square foot cabins, one of which will be used as a maintenance shop and office. The property will be landscaped using many of the site’s existing trees and a gazebo with a hot tub is planned.

McDougall will need to have building, landscaping, irrigation and signage plans approved by the county prior to going a head. The eharing examiner has given him two-years to complete the project..
