District employs low tech purification solution
Point Roberts water commissioners have agreed it’s time to spend some of the water district’s savings to revitalize aging infrastructure. “The system we have was the best available 20 years ago,” said water commissioner Arthur Wilkowski. “Well, now it’s 20 years later. We don’t want to let the system deteriorate.”

Taxpayers endorse county approach to advisory group
At their annual general meeting the Point Roberts Taxpayers Association members approved in principle the county’s proposed structure for a Rural Advisory Committee (RAC) to act as a link between the county and the community.
4th looks to be a groovy kind of day
The Fourth of July in Point Roberts is famous for a day of simple traditional fun and a rousing celebration of our nation’s independence. This year promises to be no different. “We’re going to have a great Fourth,” said parade organizer Terrie LaPorte.

Health matters
I will be on vacation having great summer fun until mid-September. The clinic will remain open with relief providers from Bellingham. Unfortunately, because of their schedules, the days and hours may vary slightly.

Parks board planning heavy dose of activities in this year’s summer program - This year the parks department summer program is putting a special emphasis on drawing in teenagers with activities tailored to older kids.

Maple Beach gets clean bill of health
The state has begun monitoring water quality at Maple Beach and swimmers can now check on the internet to see if the water is safe.

Looking for a fresh cappuccino? - If you have to be up at 6 a.m. at least now you have a lush, comfortable welcoming place to ease into the day with the smell of fresh baking and strong coffee.
