Point
Roberts health fair set for May
On May Day
the Point Roberts Community Foundation will present its first
Healthy Living Fair, intended to be an annual celebration of the
Point as a healthy place to live.
“We would
like to promote healthy living in Point Roberts and make Point
Roberts a destination for people drawn to a healthy lifestyle,”
organizer Karen Stanwood told members of the Point Roberts parks
board at their February 5 meeting. “The Healthy Living Fair is
designed to showcase the community, people and businesses of Point
Roberts that embody and foster healthier lifestyles in today’s
fast-paced world,” she added.
The fair
will showcase a variety of health care practices and products,
environmental concerns and recreational choices, Stanwood said.
Visitors can learn from and enjoy health practitioners, keynote
speakers, delicious wholesome food, product exhibitors, Feng Shui
experts, gardening advice, massage therapists, live blood cell
analysis, demonstrations, May pole dance, laughter therapy, nutritional
advice, expert coaching, safety tips, children’s activities and
silent auction.
Stanwood
said that they are still accepting applications from potential
exhibitors and are looking for volunteers to help with kids activities
and other fair features. “This sounds like a really good community
minded event,” parks board member Linda Hughes congratulated Stanwood
and fellow organizer Judith Mann.
The Healthy
Living Fair will be held May 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the
Point Roberts Community Center. The fair is free and open to the
public. For more information, please contact Judith Mann at 360/945-3146.
