You’ve got until November 1 to pay

Whatcom County treasurer Barbara Cory reminds taxpayers that second half real estate and personal property taxes are due October 31. Since the deadline falls on a weekend, payments will be accepted without interest on Monday, November 1. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Payments will be accepted by mail as long as they are postmarked on or before November 1. Drop boxes are also available at both the north and south end of the courthouse. Taxpayers who have lost their statements may find and print the amount due on the treasurer’s website at www.whatcomcounty.us/treasurer or you can contact the office at 676-6774 or 398-1310.

Taxes not paid on or after November 2 will be assessed at one percent interest each month until paid. In addition, an eight percent penalty will be added on December 1.

The treasurer’s office is now accepting passport applications up until 4 p.m., daily.
