Point Roberts Idols, in the flesh

By Louise Mugar

Lynne and Vick Snider put together the Point Roberts Idol Contest for September 4 to give local kids something to work towards during the summer.

While they found the number of entries disappointing for the first show there was still a decent crowd who turned out and they hope that over time it will be a popular community event.

For the eight to 18 year olds who want to compete in next year’s show, Dylan’s will conduct rehearsals once a month beginning next spring on Saturday afternoons. A small stage will be provided for contestants as well as electrical hookups for audio equipment.

“Just perfect to get over those first time jitters,” said Lynne. She added, “Any wannabe idols, please remember that you are welcome to perform as an air band, karaoke style, or even as some of this year’s contestants did, using your own voice and instruments. Dancing is also encouraged, as well as performing a short monologue. Get together with friends and see what you can come up with!”

To find out when rehearsals are, call the station after Christmas at 945-2454 or watch for an announcement in the All Point Bulletin.
