School’s back in session and here is the latest crop of students at Point Roberts Primary.

Fire district to determine Car 510 funding
When they meet in October Point Roberts fire commissioners will decide whether or not to reauthorize additional payments for volunteers that man the department’s quick response vehicle, a strategy that the numbers say has brought the vehicle closer to providing the intended 24/7 emergency medical service for the Point.

County pulls plug on Point Roberts advisory committee
Whatcom County Executive Pete Kremen has decided a rural advisory committee won’t work for the Point.

Hobberlin’s health throws primary race into question
Just days after besting fellow Blaine resident Dave White in the Republican primary for 42nd District State Representative, Position 2 in the November general election, former Blaine mayor John Hobberlin suffered a heart attack and was admitted to St. Joseph Hospital and underwent triple bypass surgery.

The pier at the foot of Gulf Road has been put on the back burner. The project, which garnered strong voter support last November with the approval of a junior taxing district to maintain it once it’s built, did not earn enough support from the Port of Bellingham for that agency to continue pursuing permits for the project.
