Sheriff's Reports

OPINION

By Jerry Gay

When I came across this Point Roberts scene I knew I found the job I had been searching for all my life. Well, at least this sign says this particular business is already successful. Secondly, the location of the store is in a rural area so the rent must be cheap. Additionally, a building isn’t needed and neither is a parking lot. The store obviously doesn’t need shelving, ornate light fixtures or even extensive interior or exterior decor. The once a week store opening leaves a lot of latitude for professional research or personal rehabilitation depending upon corporate needs of the moment.

On the other hand, many questions remain unanswered. Could I possibly franchise this idea to other searchers of the ultimate career opportunity as there seems to be a lot of potential for duplicating this low cost venture? What would be a good name for the business and for that matter, what type of business could it or should it be? Without electrical or water and sewer connections is proper zoning available? In any event, this picture of success, just waiting to happen, has mass public appeal and is worth looking into, if alone, for the low cost of the minimal investment required.
