Mysterious happenings in Delta

The latest in a series of mysteries is underway at the Delta Museum and Archives this spring. It is the spring of 1910, and the community of Ladner’s Landing is shocked to hear that Mrs. Roberts fine emerald necklace has been stolen. When Mrs. Robert’s jewellery is snatched, it sets of an investigation to uncover the culprit. Jack Smith, a farmhand of the Roberts, is promptly arrested for the crime. However, as he waits at the Ladner Jail to be transferred to New Westminster for his trial, Smith insists that  he is innocent.

As lead detective of the investigation, you will have to figure out who really did it. Was it the cook? The maid? Hidden within the exhibits are clues that will help you unravel the mystery of the robbery. You will have to deal with false leads, alibis, police reports and gossip to figure out the one person who had the motive and opportunity to commit the crime. At each crime scene, you will find a piece of evidence that will help you solve the mystery. As you move from clue to clue, keep track of the evidence in your detective’s notebook and submit your solution. If you are right, you could win a prize!

Fun for all ages, this drop-in program will be available during regular museum hours, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday now through April 2. Allow a minimum of one hour to collect all of the evidence and solve the crime. Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Cost is $4 per crime-solving package.

The Delta Museum and Archives is located at 4858 Delta Street, Ladner. For more information, please call 604/946-9322.
