County to come and visit us

By Meg Olson

When county executive Pete Kremen snuffed the idea of a rural advisory committee for Point Roberts that would keep county staff current with local issues, he said there would be more community meetings on the Point instead. County planning and development services is following through on the promise with the first such meeting, designed to gather input from residents on a wide range of topics.

The meeting scheduled for April 19 will ask residents how they think the county could improve services to the Point and how they think current planning documents reflect Point Roberts’ needs as the community grows, specifically in regards to economic development projects and capital facilities. County planner Amy Pederson said the meeting would help staff “identify priority areas of focus for county areas of service over the next three years.”

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Gulf Road community center.
