Need new floors or cabinets?

By Meg Olson

Local tradesman Aaron Einfeld’s regular gig is making machinery work in large sawmills, but for his home-based business here on the Point he was more interested in making things pretty.

“I enjoy the work and there seemed to be a niche,” Einfeld said of his new venture, Point Roberts Floors and Finish.

In becoming certified as a millwright Einfeld said he primarily learned how to “fix machines, design or build new ones.” However, he said millwrights also needed proficiency in many construction trades. “It’s a jack-of-all-trades trade,” he said. The variety was a good match for him, Einfeld said. “I’ve always had more than one job on the go. I’ve done flooring, roofing, siding, landscaping, lots of things.”

Through Point Roberts Floors and Finish, Einfeld provides finishing touches to new construction and remodels, from new or refinished wood floors to custom tile work and granite counters. Einfeld will custom-build kitchen cabinets or order in mid-to high-end prebuilt units. “We like to maintain a certain level of finish,” he said. He said a new addition to the team of finishers he works with can provide specialty dry-wall treatments for a variety of textures and looks. The company is licensed, bonded and insured, he added.
