It’s a go for the 10th annual Point Roberts Art & Music Festival!

By Pam Oakley

This year’s Cinco De Mayo Art Auction was again a very successful event. Held at the Dockside Café, everyone was enjoying delicious south of the border treats. The lively cha chas and sexy sambas from the extensive collection of Latin music from Eddie Buendia made Margaritaville come to life.

The generous donations of art from local artists such as Art Wilkowski, Pennie Lesow, Valerie Mayer, Sally Roberts and Ronnie Carothers and other great donations of psychic readings by Mary Elizabeth Hoffman, Massage from Spa Time, a golf foursome from Point Roberts Golf and Country Club, brunch at Brewster’s were only some of the great things sold to pay for our festival. We are officially a 501©(3) nonprofit corporation now so all donations are tax deductible!

This year’s festival will be the 10th annual Point Roberts Art and Music Festival produced by the Point Roberts Arts Foundation. Held once again at Lighthouse Marine Park, this year’s event will be July 30 and 31 from noon to dusk.

To celebrate the festival’s10th birthday, cake will be served and Happy Birthday will be sung at the opening ceremonies on Saturday. The decorations will be a birthday party theme.

The children’s workshops will all be about “Drumming in the Next Decade” and four percussion building workshops a day will provide instruments for a drum circle that will welcome the sunset each evening. Volunteers and donations are always appreciated – contact Pamela Oakley 945-1816 or Eddie Buendia 945-2505 for more information about the festival. Vendor booth spaces are going quick – call for your application today!
