Roberts Primary School News
April 2006
Principal’s
Corner
by Nancy Bakarich
It is hard to believe we are starting the month of April. It
has been a great year so far and we are all excited about the
many activities yet to come. The students are doing a great job
working together and learning as a team. It is wonderful to see
so much collaborating among our youngsters. They are a great
group of kiddos.
As April approaches we start looking at next year. April 20th
will be our Kindergarten Registration at Point Roberts Primary
School. We will be meeting with perspective parents at 10 a.m.
If you have a child who will be 5 years old by the 31st of August,
2006, please plan on attending. If you are unable to attend the
meeting, please contact the school and Pam Sim, our secretary,
will be happy to send you a packet or answer any of your questions.
This year we worked with the Point Roberts PTO to provide our
students opportunities to connect with other students in Blaine.
Our students will be going to Blaine Primary on April 19th to
watch a play presented by Western Washington University’s
Drama Department. Then on May 5th, they will come down and see
the Blaine Primary Spring Concert. We are very excited to be
able to offer these experiences to our students and would like
to thank the PTO for funding the transportation to these events.
The week of April 10th through the 14th is our annual Spring
Vacation. I hope you all have a wonderful break and I hope to
see you on the 20th of April on my next visit to the Point Roberts
Campus. Please feel free to contact me at anytime.
Kindergarten registration
There will be a kindergarten registration and orientation for
parents of students who will be entering kindergarten this fall.
It will be held at Point Roberts Primary School on April 20th,
2006, at 10 a.m. We will explain the kindergarten program and
answer any questions you may have.
Children who will be 5 years of age by August 31, 2006, are eligible
for kindergarten.
Students will be registered at this meeting. Please bring proof
of age (birth certificate) and immunization records.
On Wednesday, April 26th, 2006, Pre K students are invited to
join in classroom activities and outside recess from 2 - 2:45
p.m.
We look forward to seeing you then!

A note from Donald Pinckston
What makes a community strong and vibrant? I would submit that
it is a firm commitment to the education and well being of its
next generation. The children of Point Roberts may not realize
it now, but I have no doubt that they are the focus not only
of concerned parents but also of a caring and competent staff
at Point Roberts Primary School.
The recent student showcase fair demonstrated to me fantastic
individual creativity and a high level or collaboration not only
with the teacher but with other students and family members.
The day reaffirmed in me a deep pride for our community and a
sense of optimism about our children's future. The warm chocolate
chip cookies afterward didn’t hurt either!
