New elementary principal hired

At the monthly Blaine school district meeting on April 24, the directors approved the selection of Kathy Newport as the new principal at the elementary school. She has been the principal of Cascade Ridge elementary school in the Issaquah School District since 2000.
Newport has taught at a variety of elementary levels including special education and served as a staff development coordinator of Math Learning Laboratory and Success in Reading and Writing. She is a PTSA Golden Acorn award recipient.

Newport is a graduate of Sehome high school and earned her BA at Central Washington University and MA at Portland State University. Newport is pleased to relocate to the Blaine/Bellingham area to be near family.
