INSIDE
A
big Ha-Ha
It was “Standing Room Only” at the eighth International
Joke Telling Contest. This popular event, sponsored by the Friends
of the Library, was M.C.’ed by Lucy Williams. The judges
were three red hat members of Point Roberts Primo Purple Pansies,
Gillian Rutherford, Bea Croisdale & Barb Bell.
Many of the
jokesters told more than one joke, which made for an evening
filled with laughter. In between jokes, Lucy taught everyone
to speak like Texans, with hilarious results.
After the audience
ate pretzels donated by the International Marketplace, and drank
beer, (er, rootbeer), the judges made their announcement: First
prize was awarded to newcomer Arthur Reber. In addition to winning
a prize, Arthur’s name will
be inscribed on the prestigious Ha-Ha Cup. The other prizewinners,
in descending order, were Mary Atkinson, Kris Lomedico, Mark
Edgley, Svend Kuhr, Jim Linde, Knick Pyles, Mary Edgley, Bert
Remedios, and Joan Linde.
