This
story is a real dog
“We
wanted a way for people to get better behaved dogs and the
right relationship with their dogs while having fun,” said
Michelle Edmondson, co-owner of the new Canine Agility Facility
at the corner of Mill Road and Tyee Drive.
Michelle
and husband John Edmondson have 11 champion Samoyeds in their
hobby show kennel Luminous Samoyeds, and after their dogs earned
their championships on the dog show circuit they were looking
for something else to involve them in. “Agility
is becoming a huge sport in North America,” John said.
At their
new Point Roberts facility the couple is offering four evening
agility and obedience classes per week. Michelle said people
can attend with lofty goals like competition, training as a
companion dog, simply to have fun or improve obedience. “It
doesn’t matter how young or how old your dog is,” Michelle
said.
Jumping
through hoops and running through tunnels not only gives the
dogs physical and mental exercise, but it helps form a new
bond between dog and owner – team
spirit. “The main
thing is for people and dogs to have fun,” Michelle
said. “We
want dogs and their people to improve their life skills
together.
