SHERIFF'S REPORT
July 18:
An individual in the 1600 block of Seymour Place complained
that a juvenile had damaged a flowerbed and a tree. The individual
did not wish to pursue charges for malicious mischief, but requested
that the juvenile be trespassed from the property. A deputy contacted
the juvenile and his father and explained the trespass warning.
Both the juvenile and the parent stated that they understood.
July 14:
A WCSO deputy assisted U.S. CBP in the 700 block of Simundson
Drive with transporting a 47-year-old male from St. Helens,
Oregon that was arrested on a no-bail probation violation warrant
on an original charge of possession of a controlled substance
2nd, cocaine. The warrant was issued out of Washington County,
Oregon on July 7, 2003. The subject was later transferred into
the custody of the WCSO deputy for transport to the Whatcom
County Jail via the U.S. Coast Guard.
July 13:
A deputy responded to a party complaint in the 1600 block of
Georgia Court. There were numerous subjects at the residence
playing loud music, yelling, and racing cars up and down the
roadway. Two people who live on different streets called about
the party. When the deputy arrived he could hear the party
from a block away. An adult male responsible for the property
was contacted and advised to quiet things down. He stated he
would do so. This residence has had several previous complaints.
The male was advised that a report was being taken on the problem
and if another violation occurs at any time in the future he
may be arrested. The subject stated that he understood.
July
6: An individual in the 300 block of Evergreen Way reported
that an unknown subject cut the wire to an audible anti-pest
device causing $10 in damage to the wire. There are no suspects.
July
6: A WCSO deputy stopped a vehicle on Bay View Drive for crossing
the centerline. It was determined that the 24-year-old Richmond,
B.C. male driver was under the influence of alcohol. The driver
was arrested for DUI and was later cited and released to a
sober third party.
July 3:
A deputy responded to the 1500 block of McKenzie Way for a
suspicious package that had been shipped to the location. The
package contained a device, which appeared to be an improvised
explosive. The location was evacuated and blocked off from
public access. Explosive technicians from the Bureau of Alcohol,
Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) and Washington State Patrol responded
to the scene. After they arrived the technicians intentionally
detonated the device. The ATF assumed responsibility for the
incident; the investigation is ongoing.
