SHERIFF'S REPORT

July 18: An individual in the 1600 block of Seymour Place complained that a juvenile had damaged a flowerbed and a tree. The individual did not wish to pursue charges for malicious mischief, but requested that the juvenile be trespassed from the property. A deputy contacted the juvenile and his father and explained the trespass warning. Both the juvenile and the parent stated that they understood.

July 14: A WCSO deputy assisted U.S. CBP in the 700 block of Simundson Drive with transporting a 47-year-old male from St. Helens, Oregon that was arrested on a no-bail probation violation warrant on an original charge of possession of a controlled substance 2nd, cocaine. The warrant was issued out of Washington County, Oregon on July 7, 2003. The subject was later transferred into the custody of the WCSO deputy for transport to the Whatcom County Jail via the U.S. Coast Guard.

July 13: A deputy responded to a party complaint in the 1600 block of Georgia Court. There were numerous subjects at the residence playing loud music, yelling, and racing cars up and down the roadway. Two people who live on different streets called about the party. When the deputy arrived he could hear the party from a block away. An adult male responsible for the property was contacted and advised to quiet things down. He stated he would do so. This residence has had several previous complaints. The male was advised that a report was being taken on the problem and if another violation occurs at any time in the future he may be arrested. The subject stated that he understood.

July 6: An individual in the 300 block of Evergreen Way reported that an unknown subject cut the wire to an audible anti-pest device causing $10 in damage to the wire. There are no suspects.

July 6: A WCSO deputy stopped a vehicle on Bay View Drive for crossing the centerline. It was determined that the 24-year-old Richmond, B.C. male driver was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested for DUI and was later cited and released to a sober third party.

July 3: A deputy responded to the 1500 block of McKenzie Way for a suspicious package that had been shipped to the location. The package contained a device, which appeared to be an improvised explosive. The location was evacuated and blocked off from public access. Explosive technicians from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) and Washington State Patrol responded to the scene. After they arrived the technicians intentionally detonated the device. The ATF assumed responsibility for the incident; the investigation is ongoing.
