Point Roberts Food Bank
By Ernie
Loreen
Merry Christmas and A Blessed New Year to each one. Thanks
for the support revealed each week as food commodities are shared
with people in our community.
I want to extend my thanks to the
Council of Trinity Lutheran and the congregation for being the
sponsoring agency for the food bank which is a help to many in
our community.
Each Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon food commodities
are available at the community center. Many of our clients are
elderly people; all of our clients appreciate the assistance
which is offered. We are grateful for the gifts of time, money,
food and vegetables which many share through the Food Bank.
This
past year through the fund raising of organizations and helpful
people here and in Delta the food bank now has a delivery van
for picking up supplies and for the delivery of the food.
Thanks
to each one who has helped us and who continue to help people
in our community. Henry Rosenthal, Bill Ladner and Curt Bush
are faithful helpers and organizers each Wednesday. Mary Acosta,
John Miller, Erica Loreen, Casey Hubbard and Naomi Shucard help
as their time and activities permit. Special thanks to May and
Ron Nichols who provide us a large container on their property
in which we store food items. Many thanks to the businesses who
help: Point Roberts Market Place; Point Roberts Auto Freight;
Texaco Gas Station; Thrifty Foods in Delta, B. C.; Salvation
Army, Bellingham; Northwest Harvest, Seattle; and ‘Alternatives
To Hunger’ Bellingham Food Bank, a federal government agency.
Once
again – thank you.
