LETTERS TO
THE EDITOR
The
Editor:
Note to Errol Povah (Action on Smoking & Health). Ms. Vopnford
had no idea I had written that letter in September’s All
Point Bulletin until she read it in the paper.
Whilst I agree with the factual content of your letter re: the
disproportionate amount of garbage created by smokers, I shall
continue to disagree with your “bold” suggestion
that smokers are responsible for the bulk of non-tobacco-related
litter, and we’ll never agree on the rude and offensive
way in which you interact with your fellow human beings.

The Editor:
Regarding smoking issues, September issue, 2007. Congratulations,
Mr. Povah and Mr. Harman: mission accomplished, gentlemen.
After reading your letters, I sat for several moments, stunned
by your cruelty, impressed by your facts. You win.
I now feel as I did on the playground of my childhood, bullied
and shunned for being too fat to be accepted by the popular children.
Your letters managed to make me feel like scum, a filthy piece
of human garbage unworthy to walk the same earth as my hallowed
and pink-lunged superiors.
Well done, gents. You must be very proud. You won’t be
hearing from me again.
Patti Vopnford

Send us your border stories
Long line-ups,
surly behavior, NEXUS cards being confiscated or not re-newed,
it seems every gathering on the Point this summer features
the problems of crossing the border as one of the main topics
of conversation.
We’d
be interested in learning about your experiences coming into
the United States, good, bad or indifferent.
As well,
what solutions would you offer to improve the situation? Are
the agricultural rules appropriate for Point Roberts? Should
there be a statute of limitations on prior misdeeds preventing
NEXUS membership? Should there be an appeals board for NEXUS?
Should NEXUS be dropped in favor of two lanes being open all
of the time? Should there be a border ombudsman?
Please send
us your stories and your suggestions to: publisher@allpointbulletin.com.
Requests for confidentiality will be strictly observed.
