Election 2007: Candidate rundown

The ballots for the November election will be in Point Roberts mailboxes in October, featuring mostly uncontested incumbents up for reelection.

Lois Garlick is challenging county executive Pete Kremen in his bid for a fourth four-year term. Garlick, founder of the North Cascades chapter of the Audubon Society, is a past member of the county planning commission and the county shoreline commission. She is running on a platform of responsible land use and environmental protection.

County council member Barbara Brenner is running unopposed for her position representing district 3.

Other uncontested incumbents in county positions include sheriff Bill Elfo, assessor Keith Wilnauer and auditor Shirley Forslof. Joe Elenbaas and Steve Oliver are vying to take over as county treasurer from Barbara Cory.

Local resident Campbell McClusky is challenging Chuck Green for his position on the Blaine school district board.

In Point Roberts races, only Lawrence Wheeler, running for position 1 on the hospital district board, faces competition from write-in candidate Robin Nault. Incumbent Dick Williams is running unopposed for position 2.

Bill Meursing is unopposed seeking to be elected to the position he was appointed to on the water district board of commissioners. Fire district 5 commissioner David Gellatly is running unopposed for a new six-year term. At the parks district both newcomer Mark Robbins and incumbent Bev Griffith are unopposed. Erica Loreen is unopposed seeking reelection to the cemetery district commission.
