Water board ups rates in response to GVWD increase
By Meg Olson
Point Roberts water commissioners voted to raise rates again in 2008 and 2009, passing through anticipated increases in what the Greater Vancouver Water District charges for wholesale water it supplies to the Point.
At their regular meeting December 13 commissioners voted unanimously for the increase, which follows the model adopted in June 2007 under which users pay a base rate for a fixed amount of water and a volume charge applies to those who use more, with bigger users paying more. The base rate and volume charges will increase by 15 per cent annually for the next two years.
