Be on a boat...
A U.S. Coast Guard boater education course will be held Saturday, March 8 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Blaine Harbor Boating Center, Conference Room, 235 Marine Drive, Blaine.
The course costs $40 for the first student and $25 for each additional family member. The course curriculum covers important boating safety and operational instructions in most general conditions. Graduates will satisfy Washington state requirements to obtain a Boater Education Card.
For more information, contact Drew West at 360/303-8047 to register or email: dwest1604@earthlink.net.
By January 1, 2009, boaters 25 years of age or younger will be required to obtain their card. The phased-in period for compliance will continue until 2016 for various age groups. Boaters under 20 are already required to have the course under their belt.
