Everyone who is anyone will
be at the registered voters AGM

The Point Roberts Registered Voters’ Association is hoping to have representatives from U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Whatcom County responding to whatever concerns local voters bring to their upcoming annual general meeting March 26.

“This is a general opportunity to ask questions,” said association president Campbell McClusky. Association members have also said they would like a local deputy to attend the meeting, as well as representation from the hospital district and the school board.
A prominent discussion item will be the association’s efforts to gather signatures on a petition asking for clearer rules and a defined appeals process for the NEXUS program. “We’ve already gathered 200 signatures,” McClusky said.

The voters association has been active in trying to get local concerns heard in the planning process to expand the Deltaport freight terminal, and McClusky said they would report on their efforts.

McClusky also said the organization would also continue to fulfill their voter education mandate.

“We would like to get someone who can tell us about the superdelegates and how it works at the upcoming conventions,” he said.

Finally, the coming year’s board of directors will be elected at the coming meeting. The meeting on March 26 begins at 7 p.m. at the community center.
