Former resident seriously injured in crash

A former Point Roberts resident and frequent visitor remains in serious condition at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham after a February 10 accident.

According to state patrol investigators, a 2005 Dodge station wagon driven by Thomas L. Glass, 29, was southbound on Edwards Drive close to 9 p.m. when it left the roadway as the road turns east near Lighthouse Marine Park. The vehicle flipped and hit some trees, winding up facing west on the shoulder.

The passenger in the vehicle, Martin Petit, 36, was airlifted to St. Joseph Hospital with critical injuries.

Glass was treated at the scene and released. State patrol is listing the cause of the accident as driving under the influence of alcohol but is not releasing the blood alcohol level of the driver at the time of the accident. Glass will face charges of vehicular assault and reckless driving, according to the county superior court clerk’s office.
