Pirates make finals
The Point Roberts Pirates are in the Coast Hockey League finals against the X-Men of Richmond after placing fifth in their division at the end of regular season play. In the quarterfinals of the playoffs, the Pirates beat the fourth place Mustangs of Tsawwassen in two straight games 5-2 and 6-0. In the semi finals, it took the Pirates three games to beat the first place Vancouver Drillers 0-6; 6-3; and 6-5. The last and deciding game was tied at five at the end of regulation time and continued to be tied after sudden death overtime. The Pirates edged the Drillers by one goal in a shootout.
Starting on Wednesday April 27 at 9:45 p.m. at Richmond Ice Center on the gardens rink, the Pirates played a best three out of five game series against the third place X Men of Richmond. Other games are at the same location on Saturday, April 30 at 9:30 p.m.; Monday, May 2 at 8:15 p.m.; and if necessary Wednesday, May 4 at 9:45 p.m.; and Sunday, May 8 at 9 p.m.
