during Ballard ArtWalk in October

Floating Leaves Tea; Seattle’s new premier source for gourmet Chinese tea, and only authentic Chinese Tea House, is showcasing: Voice of Flying Ink: Calligraphic Artworks of brushed ink on handmade paper by Point Roberts resident Meredith McPherson.

McPherson’s contemporary Chinese calligraphy reveals new aspects of this ancient tradition. Inspirational sources include archaic Shang Dynasty (ca. 16th –11th century BCE) Oracle Bone Inscriptions, as well as the complex characters of the modern Chinese written language.
Such symbolic imagery has created the universal expressions of art and language across cultures and throughout time; and McPherson’s work resonates with rich symbolism, infused with a unique artistic voice. Her exhibition credentials include numerous showings in the U.S., Canada, and China. She has studied extensively in China with master calligraphers where she was honored with the Chinese name, Mo Feisheng, “Voice of Flying Ink.”

“Voice of Flying Ink” opens with an artist’s reception from 6 – 9 p.m. during the Ballard ArtWalk on October 8, and runs through December 9.
