The Point Roberts primary school garage sale hit records all around this year. With mountains of donations, an army of volunteers and a legion of shoppers the school’s parent teacher organization (PTO) raised more than $2,000 at its May 29 garage sale.

“We had unprecedented community involvement for our annual PTO primary school garage sale fundraiser this year,” said organizer Sandra Almond. “With the help of our parent volunteers, school staff, donors and shoppers, the garage sale was a huge success.”

The garage sale is the PTO’s primary fundraiser and establishes the funding base for the organizations efforts in the coming school year. The funds are used to pay for field trips, school and art supplies, books and community events like the annual Easter egg hunt at Lighthouse Park.

“Money raised from the garage sale will be put to good use next year especially with the budget cuts the Blaine school district will be facing,” Almond said.
