Local readers are winning prizes for reading books through the local library’s summer reading program.
Children and teenagers can sign up at the library. Teenagers win a prize for reviewing the books they read, and children keep track of their reading hours and win a weekly prize. When the program is over at the end of August the top reader in each of the programs will win an iPod shuffle.
The adult program can be entered online or in the branch. Every book read and entered will qualify the reader for one of several weekly prizes.
“Everything has to do with nighttime this year,” said children and young adult librarian Rose Momsen. The theme for the children’s program is “Dream Big,” the teen program is “Own the Night,” and the adult’s is “Between the Covers.”
“All our decorations in our branch are from the night sky,” Momsen said.
