A message on Covid-19 testing results from fire chief Carleton

Posted

If you are testing on a Wednesday or Sunday, please make it by the station between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. the next day to pick up results. I will publish out to PAWS, Point Interface, All Point Bulletin and NextDoor if the results are delayed and the approximate time they will be available per the lab. We have had one episode in the last 17 months that results were not available until 10 p.m. in the evening. Please understand that we do not control the flow at the lab in Bellingham and delays may occur that are outside of our control.

Please do not call 911 for test results as this is not an appropriate use for the emergency number. We have had a few people do this for the last testing conducted. We apologize if we are not available at the time you come by to get your results outside of the 2-9 p.m. the following day. Please call before you come if you are not able to come between 2 and 9 p.m. the following day. If no one answers, the fire station is not currently staffed.

If results are delayed, I will make every effort to have a member available first thing the next day to provide results. If you are in an extreme situation for travel or doctor's appointment, please call my mobile or text me and I will do everything I can to accommodate your need within what I can control.

Christopher Carleton,  Whatcom County Fire District 5 fire chief
