Bert (Robert) Kerr Scandler

November 3, 1925–December 1, 2017

After a number of weeks in Delta Hospital, Bert passed away peacefully on Friday, December 1 at the Irene Thomas Hospice in Ladner. Bert was born in Prestonpanes, Scotland, the youngest of 12 children. He decided to move to Vancouver, B.C. in November 1963, and worked for 37 years with Air Canada.

Upon his retirement Bert was asked to work in TJ’s Restaurant in Point Roberts and he spent many years behind the pull tab bar. Here, he made many friends, had a lot of fun and really enjoyed the Monday night football games. After 17 years, Bert retired from TJ’s in 2010.

Bert had many loves in his life, such as Scotland, his Scottish family Alex, Linda and Callum, Mary, Burdie and Marti; he also shared a love for Tiger Woods, golf and Courvoisier. He was a real gentleman and much loved by everyone who met him.

He was so appreciative of those who came to visit in Delta Hospital and stayed upbeat throughout his stay. Bert was a very positive person with a sunny disposition and a beautiful smile. He loved socially interacting with people and has made the world a better place.

Those who knew him are so fortunate to have shared a small part of his life.
