The early publication of this month’s paper means this column will reach you before, not after, the hustle and bustle of the modern holiday season. It also means I still have time to remind you of the Trinity Community Choir Christmas Concert “Gloria!” on Saturday, December 20 at 7 p.m. This will be an evening of wonderful music followed by a reception of luscious goodies, and the opportunity to relax from your labors and just enjoy the gift given by the choir. Tickets are not necessary and all donations received will go to support the Trinity music programs. There will be songs for all and probably more than one chance to sing along.

I will also take this opportunity to remind you that there will be a candlelight service at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve and a Christmas morning carols and readings service at 11 a.m. Come join us as we celebrate the real reason for Christmas.

As the year draws to a close, we have much for which to be thankful. Between the parties, shopping, baking, wrapping, cleaning and rushing, let all of us remember to take a moment to count our blessings, to call or write loved ones, do something for those less fortunate and take time to reflect on the past and plan for the future.

The spirit we celebrate in this season does not belong to any one group, culture or religion. Love, compassion and the giving spirit lives deep in the hearts of all people. Let this truly be a season of peace on earth, and good will to everyone.
