The community will find out what the new library will look like when the project architect comes to Point Roberts for the Friends of the Point Roberts Library’s annual meeting.

David King will be at the April 25 meeting to present a three-dimensional fly-through of the Julius fire station renovation into a new library. Plates of different views will help community members visualize the new facility and how it could enhance library services.

Judy Ross, head of the library’s fundraising committee, will share recent successes in meeting the $500,000 goal. So far the group has raised $436,000, much of it through community donations and local fundraisers. A recent $27,000 grant from Seattle’s McEachern Foundation has joined grants from the Norcliffe and Archibald foundations.

Still in the works is a $130,000 request through Senator Doug Ericksen from state capital funds to complete the funding.
