2014 has been a busy year for Trinity Church. The historic church and the social hall were fully repainted and all of the windows can once again be opened. New screens have been purchased and will be installed as the weather grows warmer.
Trinity continues to be a center for music for the entire community. This year’s Chamber Series, produced by Lucy Williams, kicked off in March with the Point Roberts Wind Quintet. April through June brought highly enjoyed concerts from previous favorites such as the Capilano Flute Choir, the Bergamasca Recorders, and the Gospel Boys, as well as a newcomer to the series, the Shawn Earle Trio. The final performance of 2014, Esther Rosenthal and Friends, brought together musicians, both from the local area and Los Angeles, who performed arrangements of classical pieces produced by Esther during her long musical career.
The Trinity Community Choir, with members from both sides of our border, provided outstanding spring and Christmas concerts.
The donations raised by these concerts support the ongoing music programs, primarily the children’s Summer Music Camp. This year, approximately 30 children aged 7-12 attended the week-long program at no charge. Several teens who had attended in previous years assisted the adult directors, and at the end of just six days of rehearsal the children performed as part of the annual Arts and Music Festival in Lighthouse Park.
Church services were held every Sunday as well as Good Friday, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We thank Father Chuck Cannon, Pastor Jean Barrington and Pastor Emeritus Ernie Loreen, as well as those pastors who came from afar to cover some of our Sundays.
Trinity would like to thank the entire community for their ongoing support of the church and its programs.
