A rose is a rose is a rose

The restaurant at the marina is celebrating new ownership with a new name.

Make way for Breakwaters Bar and Grill. The Compass Rose officially take its new name at the restaurant’s grand opening on Saturday, December 2, transitioning to a new look and new menu by next season. The event runs from 5-11 p.m. and will feature live music, drink specials and hors d’oeuvres.

On Saturday, December 16 management will be taking over ownership. Previously, they launched a contest asking the community to help them rename the restaurant and received a whopping 283 entries. Winner Bradley Everett came up with the Breakwaters name, receiving dinner for four at the restaurant.

During the winter the business model and menu will remain the same as new owners work on changes that will be implemented in the spring, including expanded outdoor seating, special events and new menu options.

Bakers can drop off their entry of two to three dozen cookies anytime of the day of the contest. “We anonymously number them so no one knows whose cookie is whose,” said store owner Pamala Sheppard. The grand prize winner will receive dinner for two at the newly renamed Breakwaters Bar and Grill (formerly the Compass Rose) at the marina in December.
